BEIJING, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) — China's State Administration for Market Regulation summoned seven platform companies for questioning on Friday, demanding they strictly comply with competition laws and conduct promotions in accordance with regulations.

Those called included Alibaba, Douyin, Baidu, Tencent, JD.com, Meituan and Taobao Flash Sale.

The regulator required these platform enterprises to strictly comply with relevant laws and regulations, including the Anti-Unfair Competition Law, the Pricing Law, the Consumer Protection Law, and the E-Commerce Law, and actively fulfill their duties.

The said platform enterprises were reminded of the need to suppress disorderly competition in any form and to jointly maintain the necessary environment for fair and honest market competition in favor of innovation and the healthy development of the platform economy. -0-
