NANCHANG, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) — A special concert was held on a high-speed train traveling from Nanchang, east China's Jiangxi Province, to Beijing ahead of the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year).
The concert was attended by 8 foreign students from Russia, Indonesia, Gabon and Morocco studying in China.
Russian student Aliya Mustaeva hosted the concert and performed a song in Chinese. She said holding a concert on a train was a very interesting idea.
Train manager Hu Qin noted that Aliya had carefully prepared for the concert, and passengers highly appreciated her performance.
Another Russian student, Aliya Yakubova, took part in a show of traditional Chinese national clothing (hanfu).
"I'm very happy to see such a wonderful performance on my way home. The participation of international students also added meaning to the celebration and is a good demonstration of the friendly exchanges between China and other countries," passenger Gong Mengying shared her impressions after the event.
A. Mustaeva noted that the friendship between China and Russia has a long history, adding that participating in the Spring Festival concert allowed her to experience the charm of the Chinese New Year.
Both Russians are studying Chinese language and literature at East China Jiaotong University in Nanchang.
The Spring Festival is the most important traditional holiday in China. Every year, during the 40-day period of "Chunyun," a season of special transportation regulations for the country's mass internal migration of the Chinese population before, during, and after the Spring Festival, hundreds of millions of people who work, study, or live far from their hometowns return home for family reunions during the Spring Festival celebrations and then return.
The number of interregional passenger trips made across the country during this period is expected to reach a record 9.5 billion person-times.
This year, Spring Festival falls on February 17th. -0-
