WENCHANG, Hainan Province, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) — The first stage of the Long March-10 carrier rocket was successfully retrieved from the sea, marking the completion of China's first mission to search and retrieve the first stage of a carrier rocket at sea.

According to the China Manned Space Administration (CMSA), the maritime search and rescue team successfully completed the mission on Friday morning. This success is significant for the advancement of reusable launch vehicle technology in China.

The Long March 10 launch vehicle launched on Wednesday at 11:00 Beijing time, and shortly thereafter, the first stage separated in normal mode and landed safely in the designated sea area under program control.

The Long March 10 rocket was developed primarily for manned lunar exploration missions and can also be used to deliver cargo and crew to a near-Earth space station. Its first stage, based on the Long March 10A rocket, is reusable.
