Bishkek, February 12 (Xinhua) — Speaker of the Zhogorku Kenesh (parliament) of Kyrgyzstan Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu announced his resignation at a parliamentary session on Thursday. This was reported on the parliament's website.

Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu noted that "certain political disagreements" have recently occurred in the country, and many criticisms have been leveled at him. "Today, I have decided to voluntarily resign as Speaker of the Zhogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic. This is my personal decision. No one pressured me," he emphasized.

He stated that the political reforms initiated by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov must be fully completed, and political stability in the country must be maintained. "With this goal in mind, guided by patriotism and the interests of the state, I have made this decision," he said.

Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu added that he is ready to serve the country's future as an ordinary member of parliament, along with other members of parliament.
