Moscow, February 12 /Xinhua/ — Russia is preparing to supply oil and petroleum products to Cuba as humanitarian aid. This was reported by the Russian newspaper Izvestia on Thursday, citing the Russian Embassy in Havana.
"In the near future, oil and petroleum products are expected to be delivered from Russia to Cuba as humanitarian aid," the newspaper quotes Russian diplomats as saying.
The oil blockade against Cuba is having a serious impact on the country's residents and economy: hotels are closed, power grids are failing, and water supplies are disrupted.
Cuban authorities have reported a shortage of aviation fuel, causing international airlines to cancel flights to the island. The crisis arose after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose tariffs on countries that supply oil to Cuba.
