BEIJING, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) — Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), on Thursday extended greetings to religious leaders and believers across the country on the upcoming Spring Festival (Chinese Lunar New Year).
Wang Huning, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, conveyed his congratulations at a pre-holiday meeting with leaders of religious organizations. The event was attended and addressed by the leaders of the China Buddhist Society, the China Taoist Society, the China Islamic Association, the Patriotic Association of Catholics of China, and the Chinese Committee of the Patriotic Movement of Christians for Threefold Self-Reliance (self-government, economic independence, and independent missionary work).
The CPPCC National Committee Chairman praised the work of religious organizations in 2025, calling for a focus on systematically sinicizing religions in China and ensuring the rule of law in managing religious affairs, thereby contributing to the advancement of Chinese-style modernization.
Wang Huning called on religious organizations to encourage religious leaders and believers to continuously deepen their correct understanding of the country, history, ethnicity, culture and religion, and to more closely unite behind the CPC and the Chinese government, as well as to promote the integration of China's religions with the country's fine traditional culture and their adaptation to socialist society.
The CPPCC National Committee Chairman also noted the need to further advance the management of religious affairs in accordance with the law. –0–
