BEIJING, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) — State Council Taiwan Affairs Office spokesperson Zhu Fenglian on Wednesday criticized Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration for imposing restrictions and obstacles on cross-Strait exchanges in pursuit of "Taiwan independence" and selfish gains.

The Taiwan DPP administration, led by Lai Qingde, is the biggest obstacle to cross-strait cooperation. Its actions have sparked sharp criticism and discontent from various sectors of Taiwanese society, Zhu Fenglian noted at a regular press conference.

Zhu Fenglian called on Taiwan compatriots to firmly oppose the regressive actions of the Lai Qingde administration in Taiwan and promote cross-strait exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

According to her, air traffic across the Taiwan Strait was disrupted due to the intervention of the DPP administration. Previously served routes have not yet resumed normal operations.

By the end of 2025, the passenger load factor on routes across the Taiwan Strait reached an average of 80 percent, reflecting the high demand for direct air service across the Strait.

“We hope that the Taiwanese side will listen to public opinion and lift the unjustified restrictions on flights across the Strait as soon as possible,” she concluded. -0-
