KABUL, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) — Afghanistan's National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) announced on Tuesday the signing of two memorandums of understanding with international humanitarian organizations to provide essential support to thousands of vulnerable families.
Agreements signed with the International Rescue Committee and Islamic Relief Worldwide provide for the allocation of over one million US dollars. According to ANDMA, assistance will be provided to 8,240 needy families in Kunar Province in the east, Ghor Province in the west, and Kandahar Province in the south.
According to ANDMA, the assistance will include the distribution of food and non-food items, as well as public awareness programs.
The Afghan government has renewed its call for increased investment from both local and international organizations to help address the country's economic challenges and create sustainable employment opportunities.
