BEIJING, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) — China firmly opposes malicious denigration of Hong Kong and the rule of law there, as well as interference in China's internal affairs by individual countries and organizations under the pretext of a lawsuit in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said at a regular ministry press conference on Tuesday.
He said China made stern representations to relevant countries and institutions after the United States, Britain, Australia and the European Union issued statements on Li Zhiying's case.
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) High Court on Monday sentenced Li Zhiying, the instigator of anti-China riots in the region, to 20 years in prison. -0-
