A ski trail has opened near the Northern River Terminal in the Moscow Canal. It consists of two circular routes, three and one kilometer long. This allows for combinations of sections and the ability to choose sections of the desired distance for skiing.
This winter, two ski trails are open to visitors at the Northern River Terminal. You can ski in the park or on the frozen surface of the water.
"The four-kilometer ski trail in the Moscow Canal at the Northern River Terminal has reopened. A more than 600-meter ski trail in the park area was previously opened, and over 3,800 people have already used it. Visitors can bring their own equipment, rent it, and participate in training sessions led by professional athletes. There's also a large skating rink, electric tubing, an ice town, and a children's carousel. At Sergei Sobyanin's direction, we continue to develop the river terminal sites," said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
The access to the slope, located in the water area, is located at Pier No. 9. Rental equipment and heated changing pavilions are also available there. They are open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and admission is free. Equipment is available until 7:00 PM, so it's best to arrive early to ensure you have the right equipment.
Ski training sessions are offered at the Northern River Terminal. They are held twice a day on weekdays—at 10:30 AM and 5:30 PM—and every 2.5 hours on weekends from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Participation is free, and registration is available on-site at the rental shops at Pier 9.
On weekends at 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM, training sessions will be led by Nikolai Pankratov, a skier and biathlete, a Master of Sports of Russia of International Class, and a member of the Russian Olympic cross-country skiing team.
After skiing and active training, you can warm up at the rental points with free hot drinks – tea or coffee.
