BEIJING, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) — The white paper on the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's efforts to safeguard national security is of great and far-reaching significance to the qualitative development of the "one country, two systems" policy, a spokesperson for the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council said on Tuesday.
The official spokesperson made the statement after the white paper, titled "Hong Kong: Safeguarding China's National Security under the 'One Country, Two Systems' Policy," was published earlier on Tuesday.
As noted in the White Paper, the fight to ensure national security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has never ceased, and the adoption of the Law on Safeguarding National Security in the HKSAR was an important milestone in the implementation of the "one country, two systems" policy, the official representative recalled.
