BEIJING, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) — Li Zhiying's case is purely an internal matter of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Monday, calling on relevant countries to refrain from making irresponsible statements.
China calls on relevant countries to respect China's sovereignty and Hong Kong's legal system, refrain from making irresponsible remarks about the trial, and avoid interfering in Hong Kong's judicial system and China's internal affairs in any form, the Chinese diplomat said.
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) High Court on Monday morning sentenced Li Zhiying, the instigator of anti-China riots in the region, to 20 years in prison. -0-
