Brussels, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) — European Commission spokesman Anwar al-Anuni on Monday condemned Israel's recent measures aimed at tightening its grip on the West Bank and "clearing the way" for settlement expansion.
Speaking at a press briefing, A. al-Anuni stated that the European Union "condemns the recent decisions by the Israeli Security Cabinet to expand Israeli control over the West Bank." A European Commission spokesperson called this "another step in the wrong direction."
According to local media, Israel's security cabinet on Sunday approved decisions to strengthen Israeli control over the occupied West Bank and expand Jewish settlements there.
