St. Petersburg, February 9 (Xinhua) — Law enforcement agencies in Russia's Leningrad Region have discovered a drug lab and detained two people, the regional press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on Monday.
It was established that in November 2025, the 42-year-old organizer and his 48-year-old assistant set up an underground drug lab in an unfinished building for the purpose of producing and selling methadone. During a search of the premises, investigators discovered over 5.7 kg of precursors, a 50-liter barrel and a chemical reactor, and dozens of canisters and bottles containing various liquids. Approximately 25 kg of a powdered substance packaged in cans and boxes were also seized.
Law enforcement officials continue their investigation and are identifying possible accomplices, precursor supply channels, and other instances of illegal activity. –0–
