Beirut, February 8 (Xinhua) — At least five people were killed when a residential building collapsed on Sunday in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli, local Al-Jadeed television reported.

According to the TV channel, thick clouds of dust formed over the site of the incident in the Tabbaneh district, causing panic among local residents. Emergency services rescued four people from the rubble, and the search is ongoing.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun demanded the full mobilization of all emergency services to carry out rescue operations and provide temporary shelter to residents of the destroyed building and its surroundings. –0–
