Moscow, February 8 /Xinhua/ — The perpetrator of the assassination attempt on Russian Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev was detained in Dubai and handed over to Russia, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) reported on Sunday.
"With the assistance of partners from the United Arab Emirates, Russian citizen Lyubomir Korba, born in 1960, who was the direct perpetrator of the crime, was detained in Dubai and handed over to the Russian side," the statement said.
The Russian FSB also reported the arrest of a suspected accomplice in the assassination attempt on V. Alekseev in Moscow. Another suspected accomplice has left for Ukraine.
An assassination attempt on V. Alekseev took place on February 6 in a residential building on Volokolamskoe Highway in northwest Moscow. An unknown assailant fired several shots at him. The victim was hospitalized. The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation into the assassination attempt.
