WASHINGTON, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that U.S. talks with Russia and Ukraine are going "very well" and "something can happen" in resolving the nearly four-year-old conflict.
"We're doing very well in negotiations with Russia and Ukraine," Trump told reporters aboard his plane. "Something could happen."
The president did not provide further details.
The second round of US-brokered talks between Russia and Ukraine concluded Thursday in Abu Dhabi. The parties agreed on a large-scale prisoner exchange but failed to achieve significant progress on key issues such as territorial disputes.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Thursday that the next peace talks with US and Russian delegations will take place "in the near future, probably in the US." –0–
