Kyiv/Moscow, February 7 /Xinhua/ — On Saturday night, Russia launched another massive strike on Ukrainian energy facilities. First Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced this on Telegram.
He noted that the attack targeted 750 kV and 330 kV substations, which form the backbone of the Ukrainian power grid. Russia also shelled power generation facilities—the Burshtyn Thermal Power Plant and the Dobrotvir Thermal Power Plant in western Ukraine.
Across the country, 4.5-5 stages of emergency shutdown schedules have been applied, and in the eastern and northern regions, special emergency shutdown schedules have been applied.
The Ukrainian power grid operator, Ukrenergo, has requested emergency assistance from Poland.
As RIA Novosti reported on Saturday, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian army launched a massive retaliatory strike, including with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, against energy and transport infrastructure facilities used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as Ukrainian military-industrial complex enterprises.
“All designated targets have been hit,” the statement said. –0–
