Moscow, February 6 /Xinhua/ — An assassination attempt was made on Russian Defense Ministry Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseyev in Moscow, the city prosecutor's office press service announced.
"The Moscow Prosecutor's Office has taken control of the criminal investigation into the attempted murder of Russian Defense Ministry Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev in northwest Moscow, initiated under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 105 (attempted murder), and Part 1 of Article 222 (illegal trafficking in firearms)," the statement reads.
According to preliminary reports, on the morning of February 6, an unknown individual fired several shots at V. Alekseev in a residential building on Volokolamskoye Highway and fled the scene. The victim was hospitalized.
