New Delhi, February 5 (Xinhua) — At least 15 people were killed and several injured in an explosion at a coal mine in the northeastern Indian state of Meghalaya, officials confirmed on Thursday.
According to local media, all the victims were workers at a coal mine located in a village in the East Jaintia Hills district.
"Fifteen bodies have been recovered so far, and efforts to find those trapped inside the mine following the explosion are ongoing. Several injured people have been taken to a local hospital," official sources reported.
