Kyiv, February 5 (Xinhua) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Telegram on Thursday that 157 Ukrainians were released during a prisoner exchange with Russia.
According to him, those returning to Ukraine included both military personnel and civilians, most of whom had been in captivity since 2022.
US President Donald Trump's special envoy for the security services, Stephen Witkoff, was quoted by the Ukrinform news agency as saying that agreements to conduct a prisoner exchange were reached earlier on Thursday during peace talks between Ukraine, the US, and Russia in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). This is the first such exchange in five months.
