Bishkek, February 5 (Xinhua) — A concert entitled "Joyful Spring Festival in Bishkek 2026" was held on Wednesday at the A. Maldybaev Kyrgyz National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater in the Kyrgyz capital. The concert was part of the large-scale "Joyful Spring Festival" project of the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Speaking at the event, Kyrgyzstan's State Secretary Arslan Koichiev noted that the Spring Festival symbolizes renewal, unity, and hope for prosperity. He stated that Kyrgyzstan and China are close neighbors, loyal friends, and strategic partners. In the 34 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have achieved significant progress in political dialogue, trade, economic cooperation, cultural and humanitarian ties, and security. He is confident that this year will be fruitful and will give new impetus to the further development of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Liu Jiangping stated that the joint celebration of the Year of the Horse between the peoples of China and Kyrgyzstan fully demonstrates the long-standing friendship between the two countries, passed down from generation to generation. China is ready to further strengthen friendly exchanges and cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and work to develop bilateral relations.

The concert featured a combined ensemble consisting of artists from the Fujian Professional Arts Institute, the Fujian Provincial Acrobatic Troupe, the Fujian Provincial Song and Dance Theater, and the Gaojia Opera Heritage Center of Quanzhou City (Fujian Province, Southeast China). Solo singing, folk dancing, an acrobatic duet, leaf playing, and a "dachengxi" drama featuring Fujian's local traditions were featured in more than a dozen meticulously rehearsed numbers, creating a vibrant, festive atmosphere, drawing thunderous applause and cheers from the audience.

"I really enjoyed the dancers' movements. Overall, the entire program was very well-constructed," said local spectator Cholpon Saadanbekova, adding that such an event helps promote mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries and their exploration of each other's cultures. The close proximity of Kyrgyzstan and China will facilitate their joint development, both materially and spiritually, she noted.

The concert was jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan, the Chinese Cultural Center in Bishkek, and the Kyrgyz-Chinese Trade and Economic Cooperation Association. Approximately 900 people attended the event.

Let us remember that this year the Spring Festival /Chunjie, the traditional Chinese New Year/ falls on February 17th. –0–
