Yerevan, February 4 (Xinhua) — Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, the Armenian prime minister's press service reported.

The leaders of the two countries welcomed the progress in implementing the agreements reached last August at the Washington Peace Summit. They emphasized the importance of maintaining and advancing the positive momentum in the bilateral settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.

The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the establishment of mutual trade, the continued export of petroleum products from Azerbaijan to Armenia, and the transit of grain and other goods from third countries to Armenia through Azerbaijani territory. N. Pashinyan and I. Aliyev agreed to continue exploring opportunities to expand bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

They also welcomed mutual visits by civil society representatives of the two countries and pointed out the need to expand confidence-building activities.

The Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan confirmed their readiness to continue working to further strengthen peace and stability between the two countries and agreed to maintain contacts with the aim of facilitating the process of normalizing bilateral relations.
