Washington, February 1 (Xinhua) – Iran is “seriously talking” with the United States, Iranian President Donald Trump said on Saturday.
Asked by reporters aboard Air Force One whether he had made a final decision on Iran, he said: "Of course, I can't tell you that, but we have very large, powerful ships moving in that direction."
"I hope they'll negotiate something acceptable," Trump said. "We could negotiate a deal that would be satisfactory: no nuclear weapons. They should do that, but I don't know if they will."
The president also told Fox News that the US cannot share its military plans with its Gulf allies during talks with Iran.
"We can't tell them about the plan. If I told them about the plan, it would be almost as bad as telling you about the plan—in fact, it could be worse," Trump said.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Friday that Tehran is committed to contacts and dialogue to resolve disputes and does not seek war.
Iran's approach, he said, is based on "dignity-based diplomacy," engagement within the framework of international law, mutual respect, and refraining from threats or coercion.
The US stated that the agreement with Iran must include a ban on uranium enrichment, the withdrawal of already enriched uranium, limits on long-range missiles, and an end to support for regional proxy forces. Tehran rejected all of these conditions.
