CAIRO, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) — A senior Iranian security official said Saturday that a framework for talks with the United States is being established.

"The formation of a negotiating structure is progressing," Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, wrote on social media, without providing further details.

Larijani's statement followed his meeting on Friday with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, which focused on economic cooperation, as well as important regional and international issues.

This publication also comes amid growing tensions between Iran and the United States and the latter's strengthening of its military presence in the Middle East, along with the American side's publicly stated position on the possibility of a diplomatic approach.

On Friday, Tehran already signaled its conditional readiness to return to the negotiating table to ease the growing confrontation. –0–
