SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) — One person was killed and six others are missing after a commercial fishing vessel capsized off the coast of the U.S. state of Massachusetts on Friday.
The U.S. Coast Guard reported that around 6:50 a.m. local time (11:50 a.m. GMT), the 72-foot fishing vessel Lily Jean sent a distress signal using its emergency locator beacon. Authorities later confirmed there were seven people on board.
Unable to establish contact with the vessel, the Coast Guard dispatched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and a small boat to the area. Search and rescue efforts are ongoing.
