Bishkek, January 30 /Xinhua/ — Kyrgyzstan's international reserves have exceeded $10 billion for the first time in history, the Kyrgyz National News Agency Kabar reported on Friday, citing Daiyrbek Orunbekov, head of the presidential administration's information policy service.

He emphasized that the accumulated reserves are almost twice the size of the republic's public foreign debt. This reliably protects the country's foreign exchange market from potential external shocks and ensures import coverage for almost nine months.

The growth of international reserves is an important indicator of macroeconomic stability and confidence in the financial system of Kyrgyzstan, he added. –0–
