BEIJING, January 30 (Xinhua) — Over the past five years, units of the China Coast Guard (CCG) have carried out a total of 550,000 vessel sorties and 6,000 aircraft sorties to protect the country's maritime rights and interests, said Zhang Jianming, head of the agency, on Friday.
At the press conference, he pointed out that during the specified period, the CCG, in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and rules, suppressed and dealt with cases of violations and provocations by relevant countries, effectively curbed separatist activities to achieve “Taiwan independence”, and resolutely protected China’s territorial sovereignty as well as its maritime rights and interests.
During this period, the CCG conducted 134 patrols in China's territorial waters around the Diaoyu Islands, with related operations spanning 357 days in 2025.
Zhang Jianming noted that regular patrols to protect rights and interests are constantly carried out in the East China Sea, South China Sea, and Yellow Sea, along with law enforcement patrols around Taiwan Island and adjacent islands, as well as law enforcement operations in the territorial waters of Huangyan Island and adjacent areas.
He also emphasized that the CCG has strengthened its capacity for timely detection, rapid response, and effective suppression of foreign violators. –0–
