BEIJING, January 29 (Xinhua) — Lottery ticket sales in China last year totaled nearly 627.97 billion yuan (approximately 90 billion U.S. dollars), up 0.7 percent year-on-year, according to data released Thursday by the Ministry of Finance.
According to the agency, sales of charity lottery tickets in 2025 reached 208.58 billion yuan, up 0.3 percent from the previous year.
Sports lottery ticket sales totaled 419.39 billion yuan, up 0.9 percent year-on-year.
In December 2025, lottery tickets worth 52.35 billion yuan were sold in the country, down 9.1 percent year-on-year.
Under China's lottery regulations, proceeds from lottery ticket sales are used to cover administrative costs, fund charitable projects, and form a prize fund. –0–
