Phnom Penh, January 29 (Xinhua) — A total of 9,065 electric vehicles will be registered in Cambodia by 2025, according to data released Wednesday by the kingdom's Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

It is noted that there are also 3,203 electric motorcycles and 700 three-wheeled electric motorcycles registered in Cambodia.

The top three most popular electric vehicle brands in the kingdom are BYD (China), Toyota (Japan), and Tesla (USA).

Ministry of Public Works and Transport spokesperson Phan Rim noted that electric vehicles save fuel and produce no harmful emissions. "Electric vehicles are gaining popularity in Cambodia, and the country aims to increase the number of electric vehicles to 30,000 by 2030," he told Xinhua.
