MANILA, January 29 (Xinhua) — Eleven more bodies were recovered after local residents joined the search for missing passengers of a ferry that sank off the coast of Basilan province in the southern Philippines, local media reported on Thursday.
The death toll from the Trischa Kerstin 3 ferry disaster has risen to 29 after 11 bodies were found on Thursday morning, according to reports.
The ferry, which was heading to Jolo Island in Sulu province from Zamboanga City, sank around 2:00 a.m. Monday local time off Baluk-Baluk Island in Haji Muhtamada, a municipality in the Sulu Sea. –0–
