Canberra, January 29 (Xinhua) — Australia's annual inflation rate rose to 3.8 percent in December 2025, exceeding economists' forecasts, according to data released Wednesday by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
According to the data, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 3.8 percent year-on-year in December and by 3.4 percent in November.
The latest inflation data is expected to determine whether the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) will raise interest rates at its first Monetary Policy Board meeting in 2026 on Tuesday, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) reports. –0–
