BEIJING, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) — Liao Xilong, a former member of the Central Military Commission and former head of the abolished General Logistics Department of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), died in Beijing on Jan. 23 at the age of 85 after a long illness.

Liao Xilong's body was cremated at the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery on Thursday.

In 2000, Liao Xilong was promoted to the rank of colonel general.
