Kyiv, January 27 (Xinhua) — Ukraine hopes its partners will support its aspirations to join the European Union in 2027. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on Tuesday during talks with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stoecker. The corresponding message was published on the Ukrainian leader's Telegram channel.

According to V. Zelenskyy, Ukraine's membership in the EU will be a key security guarantee not only for the country itself but also for Europe. He noted that Ukraine can contribute to strengthening Europe in the military, technological, and economic spheres.

Membership in the European Union is a foreign policy priority for Ukraine, enshrined in its constitution. On December 14, 2023, at a meeting of the European Council in Brussels, a decision was made to begin accession negotiations with Ukraine. –0–
