SEOUL, January 27 (Xinhua) — The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) fired at least one unidentified projectile toward the Sea of Japan on Tuesday, the Renhap News Agency reported, citing South Korean military officials.
South Korean military officials reportedly detected several unidentified ballistic missiles launched by North Korea toward the Sea of Japan at around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday (local time). The missiles were launched from areas north of Pyongyang and traveled approximately 350 km.
"Our military has strengthened surveillance and monitoring in preparation for possible additional launches and is maintaining full combat readiness," the South Korean military said in a statement.
