SAN FRANCISCO, January 26 (Xinhua) — Seven people were killed and another was seriously injured in a private jet crash during takeoff in Bangor, Maine, on the evening of January 25, according to a preliminary report from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
As the agency noted, the aircraft “crashed under unknown circumstances during takeoff, stopped in an inverted position and caught fire.”
Bangor International Airport reported that emergency services responded to the incident around 7:45 p.m. local time. The airport was closed and will not reopen until at least midday on January 28.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.
