Beijing, January 26 (Xinhua) — The 2026 China-Russia Cultural and Sports Exchange Week opened recently in Hegang, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. The event aims to promote the consistent deepening of cooperation between Hegang and the Russian Far East in the fields of culture and sports, as well as strengthening friendship between the youth of the two countries.

According to the China Media Corporation website, the main part of the Week's program is guest tournaments in taekwondo, freestyle wrestling, and karate, in which approximately 300 teenagers aged 5 to 18 from eight cities in the two countries, including Khabarovsk and Komsomolsk-on-Amur in Russia and Qitaihe and Shuangyashan in China, are participating.

During their free time, young guests will enjoy a rich cultural and excursion program, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of the local natural landscapes, cultural achievements, and unique folk customs.

The China-Russia Cultural and Sports Exchange Week is organized by the Hegang Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, the Hegang Municipal Department of Culture, Sports, Broadcasting and Tourism, and the Hegang Municipal Department of Education, with the assistance of the Hegang Municipal Mass Sports Orientation Center and the Hegang Municipal Taekwondo Sports Association. -0-
