Abu Dhabi, January 25 (Xinhua) — President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met on Sunday with Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries.
During the meeting, K. Dmitriev conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin and expressed gratitude to the UAE for organizing trilateral talks between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine aimed at facilitating dialogue and a diplomatic resolution to the Ukrainian crisis.
The parties discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in the areas of economics, investment, and development.
They also exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest.
Russia and Ukraine held direct contact during talks that concluded in the UAE on Saturday, but no specific agreements or joint statements were released following the two-day discussions with the US.
