BEIJING, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) — China on Sunday handed over to the Philippines 17 Filipino sailors rescued from a shipwreck near Huangyan Island.

On Friday, a Singapore-registered cargo ship en route from the Philippines to China lost contact near Huangyan Island. Two of the 17 rescued sailors were presumed dead, and four remain missing.
