SEOUL, January 25 (Xinhua) — Former Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Lee Hae-chan, who served as senior vice president of the Consultative Council for Peaceful Unification, died on Sunday in Vietnam, the Renhap News Agency reported.
According to Renhap, Lee Hae Chan lost consciousness on Friday while traveling in Ho Chi Minh City and was rushed to a local hospital.
He was diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction, and local doctors performed a stent procedure. However, he failed to regain consciousness and died at 2:48 PM local time.
Lee Hae-chan, a seven-time elected lawmaker and veteran of South Korea's democracy movement, served as prime minister under former President Roh Moo-hyun from 2004 to 2006. –0–
