BEIJING, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday sent a congratulatory message to Yoweri Museveni on his re-election as president of Uganda.

In the telegram, he stated that China and Uganda, with long-standing traditional friendship, have firmly supported each other on issues affecting their core interests and major concerns in recent years, achieved rich results in practical cooperation in all fields, and maintained effective coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs.

President Y. Museveni is a long-standing friend of the Chinese people and has long been committed to promoting China-Uganda relations, Xi Jinping emphasized. Beijing highly values this, he added.
