Bogota, January 24 (Xinhua) — At least seven people were killed and more than eight were injured in an explosion in a rural area of Nariño department in southern Colombia, local authorities said on Friday.
The explosion occurred late Thursday in a village in the Llorente region, about 25 kilometers from the city center of Tumaco, police said.
Nariño Department Governor Luis Alfonso Escobar said the cause of the explosion was still under investigation, stressing that the incident was not related to the armed conflict.
According to local media reports, the incident may have been caused by an explosion of a gas cylinder located in the house. –0–
