Sofia, January 23 (Xinhua) — The Constitutional Court of Bulgaria on Friday upheld the resignation of President Rumen Radev. The politician filed the petition on Tuesday, according to the court's website.

In accordance with the Constitution of Bulgaria, Vice President Iliana Yotova assumes office as president for the remainder of her term, which expires in January 2027.

The court said the decision would take effect on Friday.

As the press service of the Bulgarian president indicated, R. Radev will leave the presidential palace during a special ceremony later on Friday. –0–
