Minsk, January 23 (Xinhua) — Friendship with China allows Belarus to live in a safer world. This was stated by Sergei Rachkov, Chairman of the Standing Committee on International Affairs of the House of Representatives (lower house) of Belarus, on the Belarus-1 television channel's "Economic Environment" program, dedicated to the 34th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Belarus and China.
"Friendship with China allows Belarus to live in a safer world. I believe that having such a strong friend, practically a superpower, allows Belarus to feel more secure and implement the plans put forward, including by the All-Belarusian People's Assembly, for 2026-2030," said Sergei Rachkov.
He noted that China has always provided political support to Belarus. Belarus, in turn, always stands with China on all international platforms. "Interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries not only complements but also expands interstate dialogue," explained Sergei Rachkov.
According to him, significant changes in interparliamentary cooperation between the countries have occurred since 2023: the National Assembly of Belarus and the National People's Congress of China signed an agreement on interparliamentary cooperation.
"We've established a new mechanism that helps us raise the level of this cooperation. This is a high-level cooperation commission. Two meetings of this commission have already taken place, both in China and Belarus. Within its framework, we're addressing issues of exchanging legislative experience and public administration. We're reviewing the two countries' positions on the international stage and, naturally, discussing where we can and should support each other even more," S. Rachkov concluded.
