BEIJING, January 22 (Xinhua) — China is a responsible major developing country, and its efforts to combat climate change, promote global development, and utilize renewable energy have been widely recognized, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said Thursday.

The diplomat made this statement at a press briefing in response to US President Donald Trump, who reportedly said on Wednesday in Davos, Switzerland, that China produces a lot of wind turbines, but he "couldn't find a single wind farm in China." Trump also claimed that China sells wind turbines to "stupid" people.

China has built the world's most advanced carbon-reduction policy system and the world's largest renewable energy system, Guo Jiakun noted, adding that the country is actively sharing its achievements in green development.

He emphasized that China's installed wind power capacity has ranked first in the world for 15 consecutive years. As of the end of November 2025, China's installed wind power capacity exceeded 600 million kW.

According to Guo Jiakun, between 2021 and 2025, China's wind power and photovoltaic exports helped reduce carbon emissions in other countries by a total of about 4.1 billion tons.

China is ready to work with all parties to continue promoting the global green and low-carbon transition and jointly build a clean and beautiful world, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman added.
