Sergei Sobyanin opened traffic on a section of Kommunarskoye Highway with an overpass across Alexandra Monakhova Street.
"We continue active road construction. This year, we will build approximately 100 kilometers of roads, 19 bridges, overpasses, flyovers, and 22 underpasses and overpasses. Furthermore, we have launched three major road concessions, which are also designed to improve traffic in Moscow. Today, we are launching a relatively small but important project—a bypass of the Kaluga Highway from the Solntsevo-Butovo-Varshavskoye Highway to the Moscow Ring Road. It will improve transportation services to the large Moscow district of Kommunarka, where over 150,000 people already live, and will reduce overall congestion on the Kaluga Highway," said the Moscow Mayor.
The new highway will reduce traffic congestion on Kaluga Highway, Alexandra Monakhova Street, and Projected Drive No. 812 from Bachurinskaya Street to Kommunarskoye Highway by approximately five percent.
"The Kommunarka and Novomoskovskaya metro stations will become more accessible, and bus route C999 will be rerouted to them. Travel time from the Moscow Ring Road to the Solntsevo-Butovo-Varshavskoye Shosse highway will be reduced threefold, from 30 to 10 minutes," Sergei Sobyanin wrote on his channel in

The new road will improve service on the popular C999 bus route, which connects local residents to metro stations, public services, and other important city amenities.
The first section of the future Kaluga Highway alternate, a three-kilometer straight line, opened in 2020. The new road provided a direct exit from Kommunarka to the Moscow Ring Road, bypassing Kaluga Highway. That same year, a 500-meter overpass was commissioned at the intersection of Projected Driveway No. 7051 and the Solntsevo-Butovo-Varshavskoe Highway.
"Kommunarka is one of the main centers of development in our city. For comfortable living, the new district needs
schools, kindergartens, metro stations and, of course, roads,” the Mayor of Moscow emphasized on his channel in MAX messenger.

In January 2026, construction of the second section (from Projected Driveway No. 812 to the Solntsevo-Butovo-Varshavskoe Shosse highway) was completed. This is two kilometers in a straight line with two traffic lanes in each direction.
In total, five kilometers of roads were built and reconstructed as part of this project, including the main route, the overpass across Alexandra Monakhova Street (482 meters), side roads, and adjacent streets. As part of the landscaping, 9.5 hectares of lawns were laid.
“We plan to extend the road to the highway by the end of 2028
Voskresenskoye – Karakashevo – Shcherbinka, as a result of which its length will almost double and will be about 10 kilometers,” Sergei Sobyanin noted on his channel in MAX messenger.

New roads in Moscow
Between 2011 and 2025, approximately 1,600 kilometers of roads were built, representing approximately 30 percent of the existing road network. 488 new tunnels, overpasses, and bridges were constructed, increasing the number of artificial transport structures by more than 70 percent. 364 off-street pedestrian crossings were also created.
Between 2026 and 2028, 283 kilometers of roads, 47 artificial structures, and 58 pedestrian crossings are planned for construction. Of these, 91.3 kilometers of roads, 19 artificial structures, and 22 pedestrian crossings are planned for construction in 2026.
The main input objects include:
— a section of Kommunarskoye Highway with an overpass across Alexandra Monakhova Street (opened in January 2026);
— section of the Solntsevo-Butovo-Varshavskoe Highway road from Polyany Street to Varshavskoe Highway;
— the southern section of the Moscow High-Speed Diameter along Kaspiyskaya Street from Kantemirovskaya Street to the Paveletsky direction of the Moscow Railway (MR);
— overpass along the main route of Entuziastov Highway at the intersection with Svobodny Prospekt and Bolshoy Kupavensky Proezd (first stage);
— reconstruction of Simonovskaya and Krutitskaya embankments;
