BEIJING, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) — China has always been committed to genuine multilateralism and will firmly uphold the international system with the United Nations (UN) at its core, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Wednesday.
The Chinese diplomat made the remarks at a regular briefing after US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the UN should continue to operate because of its potential, but that the "Peace Council" he proposed "could" replace the organization.
Regardless of how the international situation develops, China will firmly uphold the international system with the UN at its core, the international order based on international law, and the basic norms of international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, Guo Jiakun noted. -0-
