BEIJING, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) — China's Foreign Ministry commented on Wednesday after the British government announced Tuesday it had approved plans to build a new Chinese embassy building in London.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun stated at a regular ministry press conference that providing support and facilities for the construction of diplomatic premises is an international obligation of host countries.

He said the planning and design of the new Chinese embassy building are of high quality. The construction application and its approval are fully compliant with international diplomatic practice, as well as local laws, regulations, and procedures.
