WASHINGTON, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump posted a picture on Truth Social on Tuesday showing him planting a U.S. flag in Greenland.
The image depicts him with US Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. A sign is also visible in the image that reads, "Greenland, U.S. Territory, 2026."
That same day, Donald Trump posted another image. It shows him meeting with European leaders in the Oval Office, with a map behind him showing the United States, Canada, Greenland, and Venezuela, colored in the colors of the US flag.
D. Trump announced on Tuesday on the social network Truth Social that he had a phone conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte regarding Greenland.
"As I've already made clear to everyone, Greenland is of paramount importance to national and global security. There's no turning back. Everyone agrees on that!" he wrote.
