Hohhot, January 19 (Xinhua) — Six people were killed and four remain missing in an explosion that occurred on January 18 at a sheet metal rolling mill in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the rescue headquarters at the scene reported on Monday.

Search and rescue operations are continuing at the site of the explosion that occurred at Baogang United Steel's sheet rolling mill in the western city of Baotou.

The explosion occurred on Sunday at 3:03 PM, originating from a 650 cubic meter spherical tank filled with saturated water vapor. It was previously reported that 84 people were injured and hospitalized as a result of the incident.

The Industrial Safety Committee of the State Council of China has taken over the investigation into the cause of the accident.
